Professor Pearse Keane is a consultant ophthalmologist in medical retina at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Professor of Artificial Medical Intelligence at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology.

His group later developed RETFound, a foundation model trained on large numbers of retinal images, published in Nature in 2023, and his work explores how eye scans can reveal wider health conditions.
