Dr. Timothy J. McCulley is professor and chair of the Ruiz Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where he holds the Richard S. Ruiz, M.D. Distinguished University Chair, and he sees patients at the Robert Cizik Eye Clinic.
Before Houston he was on the faculty of the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute, where he held the Earl D. Kidwell, Jr., MD Professorship, served as vice chair for clinical strategic planning and directed both the oculoplastic surgery and neuro-ophthalmology divisions. He trained in ophthalmology at Stanford, in neuro-ophthalmology at Bascom Palmer and in oculoplastic surgery at the Cincinnati Eye Institute, and he received the American Academy of Ophthalmology Senior Achievement Award.
Dr. McCulley treats optic nerve disease, orbital trauma and traumatic optic neuropathy, droopy eyelids and eyelid and orbital tumours, and performs cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid, orbit and tear duct surgery. He has written more than 100 research articles and directs an ASOPRS fellowship.
