Health Information
My Eye Doctor helps you learn about eye health and find an eye doctor. Our content is general information, not medical advice. Here is what that means for you.

Sudden vision loss or an eye injury needs emergency care right away.
Using our site doesn't make any doctor your doctor until they see you.
The vision simulator and other tools can't test your eyes.
Listings and reviews aren't endorsements of any doctor.
Only an eye exam can tell you what's right for your eyes.
The content on myeyedoctor.net, including eye health guides, condition pages, eyewear guides, blog posts, FAQs, the vision simulator and doctor profiles, is provided for general information and education only. It is not medical advice, a diagnosis or a treatment plan, and it is not a substitute for an exam, diagnosis or treatment by a qualified eye doctor or other healthcare professional.
Every person's eyes and health are different. Information that is right for one person may not be right for you. Only an eye doctor who examines you and knows your health history can tell you what is right for your eyes.
Using our site, reading our content, sending an appointment request or emailing our team does not create a doctor-patient relationship between you and My Eye Doctor, our medical team or any doctor listed on our site. A doctor-patient relationship only begins when a doctor or their office agrees to see you and provides care.
Our team can't answer personal medical questions by email. If you have questions about your eyes, please request an appointment with an eye doctor.
Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room right away if you have any of these. Don't wait for an appointment, an email reply or information online.
Outside the United States, call your local emergency number, such as 999 or 111 in the UK, or 144 in Switzerland.
Our vision simulator, prescription reader, face shape guide and other interactive tools are simplified examples for education. They don't show how any one person sees, can't measure your vision or eye health, and can't be used to diagnose a condition or check a prescription. Only an eye exam can do that.
Doctor profiles are built from details supplied by practices and from public sources. A listing, a "featured" placement, a "verified" badge or a high rating is not a recommendation, endorsement or guarantee of any doctor's skill or care. You are responsible for choosing your doctor, and we encourage you to check a doctor's license with your state medical or optometry board.
Patient reviews are the personal opinions of individual patients about their own experience. They are not medical advice and may not reflect the experience you will have. See our Terms of Use for how reviews work.
Our guides are written by the My Eye Doctor team and shaped and reviewed by experienced ophthalmologists. You can learn about them on our Team page. Their review helps keep our content accurate and up to date, but it doesn't make our content personal medical advice from them to you.
Members of our medical team practice independently at their own clinics. Their involvement with My Eye Doctor doesn't mean they have examined you, and they can't give personal advice through our site.
When our content mentions medicines, eye drops, vitamins, contact lenses, lens types, surgery or other treatments, it is describing options in general, not recommending them for you. Treatments carry risks and benefits that depend on your eyes and health. Approval, availability and guidance for treatments can differ between countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. Always ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any treatment or supplement.
We base our content on guidance from trusted sources, such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Optometric Association, the National Eye Institute, the CDC and the FDA, and we show when each page was last updated. Medical knowledge changes, though, and despite our care, some content may be incomplete, out of date or contain errors.
My Eye Doctor makes no guarantee that content is complete, current or error-free. If you spot something that looks wrong, please email info.myeyedoctor@gmail.com and we'll review it. Read our Editorial Policy to learn how we create and update content.
Much of our health guidance follows US organizations and US law. If you live in the United Kingdom, Switzerland or elsewhere, recommendations, medicines, insurance rules and emergency numbers may differ where you live. Follow the advice of your own doctor and your national health service.
We link to trusted health organizations, practice websites and other resources to help you learn more. We don't control these websites and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy or advice.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, My Eye Doctor, our team and our medical advisors are not responsible for any decision you make, or any outcome, based on information found on our site. Any reliance you place on our content is at your own risk. Our Terms of Use explain this in more detail.
