Overview
Dr. Rohit Varma is a glaucoma and cataract surgeon and the founding director of Southern California Eye Institute (SCEI) at CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles, which opened in 2018. He was earlier the founding director of the USC Roski Eye Institute.
He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins, earned a master of public health from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, and completed glaucoma fellowships at Wills Eye Hospital and at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.
Dr. Varma is known worldwide for research on the epidemiology of eye disease, including the National Eye Institute funded Los Angeles Latino Eye Study and studies of eye disease in children and in minority populations. In practice he provides advanced medical and surgical glaucoma care, including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and cataract surgery.
