Dr. Lawrence A. Yannuzzi is the founder of Vitreous Retina Macula Consultants of New York and has long served as vice-chairman and director of retinal services at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. He is also the founder of The Macula Foundation.
He is one of the most influential researchers in macular disease. His work helped define conditions such as polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy and retinal angiomatous proliferation (type 3 neovascularisation), and he advanced the use of indocyanine green angiography and other imaging in diagnosing macular degeneration. His textbook, The Retina Atlas, is a standard reference for retina specialists.
